BIG STORY OF THE MONTH

This picture is taken after the 10-handed slayer of demons, Hindu Goddess Durga was immersed in India in October. Little children picked up a severed head of a demon from the water, in the hope of recycling it.

Coincidentally, it was Durga Puja, the Bengali community’s greatest festival, where a 10-armed Goddess Durga comes to Earth to purify mankind of all sins and slay demons with her trident. Coincidentally, the lighting at Empire State Building ended with an intimidating image of Goddess Kali, another Hindu Goddess, coming to earth in November, who is reputed as the slayer of demons with her sword and wearing a string of heads around her neck like a garland. Coincidentally, Halloween, the festival that celebrates all evils, is on its way.

Coincidentally, big powers, Russia, US, Iran and Iraq are working (albeit not fully together) but for the same cause of annihilation of the ISIS killers.

Coincidentally, we are not hearing so much of ISIS atrocities tearing our souls and humanity apart.

No, it can’t be the hands of superpowers. We are too much into the digital age to believe that. It was all just coincidences. But, there is a lull in the terrorism market right now, apart from some sporadic incidences. And we can safely say, dear God, thank you for sparing us the horror at least during the festive seasons.

In fact, good news is pouring in in hordes.

It has been confirmed that information from a new joint-intelligence gathering centre in Baghdad is being used to bomb the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group.

Two weeks ago, Russia started bombing armed groups in neighboring Syria, including ISIL, to support its ally, President Bashar al-Assad. Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abbadi has said he would welcome Russian air strikes against ISIL on its soil, which the Russians have not yet agreed to carry out.

Iran, which has had warming ties with the US in recent months, has deep influence in Iraq and has been advising the Iraqi military in its battle against the fighters, who control much of western Iraq.

The influence of Iran and Russia in Iraq has troubled US officials, who have accused the Russians of targeting Syrian opposition groups with air strikes on the pretext of fighting ISIL.

A US-led coalition is already targeting ISIL fighters with air strikes in Iraq and Syria since June 2014.

Even though each superpower is walking a tightrope with their bloated egos trying to control a single enemy, the enemy of human rights, they are doing so pretty well.

In short, we are at the brink of controlling terrorism.

Can we now safely say that the heads of the demons are slayed?

Now that Russia, Iran, Iraq started bombing ISIS armed groups in neighbouring Syria, and US was already there, now beefing up its image to the world in a competition with Russia, can we say that  it's time for the real demons be tackled?

Now that the demon is slayed...
