The earth is witnessing a different kind of Dark Age.

Beheadings, throwing off from high buildings as punishments, digging their own graves before being buried alive, teenage and tween girls sold as sex-slaves by giggling pimps, bloggers getting hacked and sliced to death, octogenarian beheaded for not complying with sexual acts and famous artists beheaded and hung atop street poles. We have even witnessed the 1st century Palmyra getting blown up — unemotionally.

It's like the rest of the world is sitting and watching by, as if we are watching a movie being played... It cannot happen to us. 

 

But this picture has made a huge difference. The red shirt, the shoes and socks worn by the toddler lying lifeless on a beach where he could have been enjoying his holiday, somehow reminded us of our own children. Aylan Kurdi does not look like a refugee the cat brought in, which is why the civilized and developed nations are looking up. 

 

Terror is in our doorway; if we do not act with all our forces NOW, it will not be long when we see a tiny black flag marching into our own horizon. 

Unless and until the issue grabs us by our own tail, we are not bothered. And this innocent smiling boy, with his milk teeth still vibrant, holding his father's hand, sporting shoes and socks with a red T and jeans shorts, perhaps excited about his boat journey ahead, reminds us to our horror that our own children are that pretty. 

He definitely doesn't wear the look of a tattered refugee. So if this can happen to this family, it can happen to us. 

Which is why we are sitting up! And we better do so.

 

This Dark Age is looming over entire humanity. Threatening with a creeping force which we are underestimating. We are thinking that like the other terrorist groups they too will fade into killing one another and eventually into the crevasses of the Hindu Kush mountains. We are surely not expecting another 9/11 attack, which is why the world super powers and UN is lolling. But you remember what happened when you had taken the Bin-Laden coterie too lightly, dear US?

 

Dear Canada, dear India, dear China, dear European nations, please wake up. If not any other deaths, this boy’s death should hit you right into your intelligence and you should be forewarned about the looming threat over humanity.
