BIG STORY OF THE FORTNIGHT

15 everyday scenes you will see ONLY in Dubai

June 8, 2014

Move over First World countries, Dubai is here.

Keeping wild animals as pets here has become so common that it's almost considered a menace and a hazard to public. You often see owners walking by or driving on busy streets with a cheetah on a leash of a lion at the backseat.

Wealth is so superfluous that ATMs are made of gold and so are cell phones. Tennis courts are constructed atop skyscrapers and pets eat freshly caught sharks.

And do not miss their specially designed Starbucks!

LOS ANGELES, June 11, 2014

Bollywood had been getting "inspired" by international songs since forever now. But this time it seems the wind blows the other way.

A.R.Rahman's 90s mega hit 'Urvasi' has now been recreated as an R & B number by will.i.am.

The song is called 'It's my Birthday" and also features R & B artist Cody Wise.  "Excited to creatively partner with will.i.am to recreate an early popular track of mine in a new flavour," AR Rahman said on the Birthday song.

Many of AR Rahman’s songs had been earlier incorporated by international artists and Hollywood movie directors in their works.

Will.i.am has reportedly co-produced his new song with Damien LeRoy, and it was co-written with Rahman, up-and-coming R&B artist Cody Wise and US producer Keith Harris.
Rahman flew to Los Angeles earlier this month for the premiere of Hollywood film “Million Dollar Arm”, for which he has composed the tunes

Bollywood diva and veteran actress, Rekha, who had retired into self-exile, is emerging with a new film, Fitoor.

The veteran actress has given her nod to Abhishek Kapoor's upcoming film, also starring Katrina Kaif and Aditya Ror Kapoor. Abhishek Kapoor is the director of Bollywood megahit, Kai Po Che.

Katrina and Aditya have already been signed for the film, which is based on Charles Dicken's famous novel Great Expectations. Rekha will play a significant role in the film acting as Katrina's aunt.

The 59-year-old's character in the film is said to be inspired from Miss Havisham, the character of an old wealthy spinster from the novel, who is largely seen in grey character.

"Rekha's character is likely to be along the lines of Miss Havisham, an important character in the novel. The original character is that of a wealthy woman who lives in an old, dilapidated mansion with her adopted daughter, whereas in the film, Rekha will play Katrina's aunt,'' a source revealed to Mid Day.

Rekha's role will also have grey shades as she will act the medium via which Kaif and Aditya's love story starts off. The film being an adapted desi version, the Umrao Jaan star will play a Begum, while Aditya will be seen in the role a Kashmiri lad Noor and Kaif as his muse will enact a character named Firdaus, reported The Times of India.

A photo of Fitoor's cast with director Abhishek is out onTwitter.

The film which is to start rolling from August this year will be shot in Kashmir, Delhi and parts of North India.

Siddharth Roy Kapur's UTV Motion Pictures, which is backing Fitoor, told the daily. "We have always believed in the unmatched power of a great story. We are thrilled to help Abhishek tell this classic tale of love."

Earlier, the Kai Po Che director had roped in Sushant Singh Rajput to play the male lead, but the actor had to let go off the film due to date clashes with other commitments.

Penchant was to preserve what was slipping from our fingers: The vibrancy of magazines, the colors, the design, the layout, the words, the stories, the content, the passion. Penchant was to make use of what was available now: Technology, and create an online designer mag that would smear colors and add tang to the fading flavors of the world. We needed an ezine which would bring the world together. Unify skin colors, fade borders and highlight humanity.

We realized we had the experience, we had the team, we had the expertize. All we needed was the zeal to make it happen. We chose the younger generation's fervor and the older generation's expertize to launch CITRUS... for posterity of humankind...
