A red carpet peck on the cheek by Leyla Hatami, the Iranian actress at the Cannes Film Festival has been reported to the country’s courts by activists who are seeking a public flogging as punishment for violating Islamic laws.

Miss Hatami was condemned by Islamic Republic officials for kissing Gilles Jacob, the President of Cannes Festival, while attending the event as a member of the jury.

Mr Jacob tried to play down the incident, describing it as “a usual custom in the West” after it was condemned as an insult to Iranian womanhood.
“I kissed Mrs Hatami on the cheek,” Mr Jacob said. “At that moment, for me she represented all Iranian cinema, then she became herself again.

Hizbullah Students, a group of university students with links to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard yesterday filed a complaint with Iran’s judiciary for the prosecution of the film star who starred in the Oscar-winning, A Separation.

Iranian actress to be flogged after a harmless Cannes peck

What the world can do, Iranians cannot. Six young Iranians created a video dancing to Pharrell Willams' 'Happy' on their rooftops of Tehran and uploaded their video on the YouTube. It was widely distributed in the social media. The police decided to track them down and arrest them and make them repent in front of the camera. It then showed this capture on the national TV channels as a bunch of deceived Iranian youth who regretted their deed.

In the past 35 years, Islamic Republic has managed to steal freedom and happiness from the Iranian youth and replace it with a culture full of mourning and sorrow. While the teenagers were later released on bail, the director is still in the custody of police.

This certainly isn't the most egregious example, but it is an interesting situation where archaic rules and pop culture collide, sparking an international commotion. Suffice it to say, the outpouring of support for these young people has been overwhelming. Watch both the videos. Original by BBC News.

Begum Kareena Kapoor who will next be seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham Returns was recently spotted driving a rickshaw while on the sets of the film.
It was later confirmed that the actress will arrive in a local auto for a scene in the masala Bollywood entertainer.

If sources are to believed, the actress went behind the steering wheel for the scene making for an amusing sight to see Bollywood royalty travel local style.

“It was fun driving the auto rickshaw. I have never done this kind of thing before. I had a blast doing it!” Bebo said.

Penchant was to preserve what was slipping from our fingers: The vibrancy of magazines, the colors, the design, the layout, the words, the stories, the content, the passion. Penchant was to make use of what was available now: Technology, and create an online designer mag that would smear colors and add tang to the fading flavors of the world. We needed an ezine which would bring the world together. Unify skin colors, fade borders and highlight humanity.

We realized we had the experience, we had the team, we had the expertize. All we needed was the zeal to make it happen. We chose the younger generation's fervor and the older generation's expertize to launch CITRUS... for posterity of humankind...
